Hello again! I love blogging. Just wanted to let all of you know that I support our troops 100%. My brother is currently in his third year of service as a Navy Corpsman. He will be 21 in October! He has recently gotten orders to go to Iraq in September. He is a new husband and a great brother. I love him so much that I believe that life is a better place with him. My best friend Ben is also in the military! He is a marine! Semper Fi! He is currently in his second tour in Iraq. He is absolutely wonderful and he has been over 8 months from the previous tour and its almost been 4 months so far this time around. I have more than a handful of friends that are servicemen and I come from a family of servicemen! I am not saying I support this war and I am not saying that I dont. I am definitely not telling or even asking anyone to support the war. I just want everyone to know I support our troops strongly! I will never force my opinion on anyone, that isnt who I am. Just really want to talk to more people that are going through the same thing or that know people in the service! Please feel free to post! But stay away and please dont post anything negative about our servicemen!

Hey there, hon! My husband spent a year in Iraq and now he's training for Army Special Forces.

God speed to your brother and best friend!

I too just got word that my cousin is going over in October, he'll be gone for 15 months. A week after he got his orders his wife found out she was pregnant...she's due in March...he won't see the baby until he or she is 9 months old. Let's all hope for the time to pass quickly!

Gracies Mom - TELL HIM TO RECORD VIDEOS FOR THE BABY! He'll feel a little silly, but have him read books or something.

I can't tell you how much that helped my son - by the time he met his Daddy it was like he already knew him. Besides, it was nice for me too.

My hubby did 3 years in the army with 3rd ID him and his brigade were the first ones in. They started this dern war lol. He spent 14 mnths over there in total. Thank god he was able to get out b4 they sent em back for the 2nd round. I mean I know its there job Id just rather not be in the worry wart shoes again. It was the hardest thing ever to watch him leave to "kuwait" and a week or 2 later say yep we really are going in the front lines. They say the hardest job in the military is being the wife or mother and it totally is. So support both lol the troops and there women hehe jk

I don't have any family members currently serving overseas, although I do have a brother-in-law in the Air Force and several uncles and cousins who have served in previous wars, but I feel very strongly about supporting our military, especially on a day like today when we're celebrating something we wouldn't have without their efforts. Would all of you who do have loved ones serving pass on my appreciation, please. And props to you all who are holding down the fort here at home. *hug*

My brother-in-law is also a Marine and currently serving in Iraq. He has been there since February, and was told he would be there at least a year. It's so hard when they are gone. It feels like an eternity. My husband talks to him almost every week, which helps a lot. It's hard b/c sometimes it is so obvious that something is really bothering him, but he won't say what it is. Other times he sounds fine. Have any of you guys found something to send in care packages that your loved ones really like? I feel like I'm running out of ideas. We usually just send snacks, crystal light packages, photos, etc.

i send goofy stuff to my friend ben in iraq. he gets a kick out of it since his buddies over there are pretty funny guys. cheap dollar stuff from walmart works. sidewalk chalk, koolaid singles packs, crosswords, travelsize games...like uno or boggle or pictionary jr...stuff that would seem ridiculous to send a grown man he gets a kick out of! i want to send bubbles but i dont know if that is too far. hehehe...

Like you already know, my husband's a MARINE! YEAH! Feel free to talk to me about it anytime. That goes for anyone reading this, unless of course you don't actually support the troops. In that case, save it! =) But remember, you can support the troops without supporting the war!
